Blooms the Chemist Bundaberg named top Blooms

Blooms the Chemist has announced its Pharmacy of the Year: Blooms the Chemist Bundaberg.

Jason Blanchard, General Manager of Operations at Blooms the Chemist announced the award at the pharmacy brand’s awards ceremony on the Gold Coast.

“There is robust criteria for this award that includes people engagement, customer service and business performance,” Blanchard said.

“We have watched Wade Hinschen and David Cheung, two very enthusiastic young pharmacists seek to further develop the Blooms Bundaberg pharmacy over the last three years and, Wade, David and the team have taken the business from strength to strength.”

Hinschen told the AJP that winning the award was “a pleasant surprise”.

“We weren’t expecting it, having so many pharmacies in the group and there’s quite a few good ones,” he says.

He attributes the pharmacy’s success to its commitment to customer service.

“We’re not a warehouse or anything like that, and we promise customer service, and so we have to deliver on that,” he says.

“It’s not as easy as saying, ‘low prices every day’. You have to deliver that customer service to every customer, every time.

“We’re not just treating them as a customer – they’re coming to us with health problems, and we need to provide them with a complete health solution every time, and we want them to go away happier and healthier.”

Other awards presented included:

  • The Retail Award, presented to Blooms The Chemist, Penrith Plaza;
  • The Dispensary Award, presented to Blooms The Chemist, Lithgow;
  • The Customer Service Award, awarded to Blooms The Chemist, Wyong;
  • The Productivity Award, awarded to Blooms The Chemist, Goulburn Marketplace; and
  • The Pharmacy of the Year Award, clinched by Blooms The Chemist, Bundaberg.

The community-driven retail pharmacy group won a prestigious Canstar Blue award for the second year running in July, 2016 after taking out the award in the same category in 2015, for “Most Satisfied Customers”.

At the event Blooms also announced Pharmacare Laboratories as its Strategic Partner of the Year.

“We are strategically aligned with Pharmacare, seeking to further develop our offer in the wellness space. We see huge opportunities for future growth with Pharmacare, and are very excited about this strategic partnership” says Pamela Curtin, General Manager for Merchandise and Marketing at Blooms the Chemist.
