Bring OMG Slim to pharmacy for disposal, consumers told

white capsules, that resemble OMG Slim capsules

The TGA has assessed a product labelled “OMG Slim” capsules and recommended any consumers in possession of them bring them to their pharmacy for safe disposal.

The capsules pose a serious risk to health, the TGA says, and should not be taken.

TGA testing revealed the products to contain the undeclared substances sibutramine (available in Australia on prescription only) and orlistat (pharmacist only).

OMG capsules have not been assessed by the TGA for quality, safety or efficacy as required under Australian legislation.

Its investigations show that some Australians may have bought OMG Slim capsules online; the TGA is working with Australian Customs and Border Protection Service to help stop future shipments of the capsules from entering the country.

TGA is warning customers to exercise “extreme caution” when buying medicines from unknown overseas Internet sites, as they may contain undisclosed and potentially harmful ingredients, and may not meet the same standards of quality, safety and efficacy as those approved by TGA for supply in Australia.
