She also took home the People’s Choice Award in a clean sweep at the PSA 2016 Gala Dinner

The award was presented by PSA National President Joe Demarte at the Four Points by Sheraton in Sydney, with Kolopelnyk being chosen out of eight state finalists.

Finalists were judged based on their performance in a clinical scenario at the finals held on the Saturday of the conference.

However it was clear one person stood out above the rest.

“I did my best and was very happy with how I performed which is the main thing,” Kolopelnyk told AJP.

“And it seems like everyone else agreed! But being recognised is fantastic.”

She also thanked her mentors who cheered her on at the event.

Kolopelnyk, a final year pharmacy student at the University of South Australia, had won this year’s Pharmacy Student of the Year title for both the South Australian and Northern Territory Pharmacy Schools.

With three months of study to go, she already has an internship lined up and will be doing rotations with SA Health, the Royal Adelaide Hospital, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Glenside mental health facilities.

Mental health is of special interest for Kolopelnyk ever since she completed a placement in a hospital with a mental health facility.

When asked whether she would prefer community and hospital work, Kolopelnyk can’t choose.

“If I could do hospital work during the week and then do community work on the weekend that would be great – if it was possible!” she said.
