The US National Community Pharmacists Association has released a new video championing the contributions of independent community pharmacies and urging Americans to choose them instead of chains.
The video, Theresa Tolle – Independent Pharmacist and the Backbone of her Community – features Florida pharmacist Tolle, owner of the Bay Street Pharmacy, which has the motto “Where caring people care for you”.
“Patients often say they choose to rely on independent community pharmacies because they are treated like family and that they want to support their local community and economy,” says NCPA CEO B. Douglas Hoey.
“Theresa’s story and the care provided by her pharmacy perfectly illustrate that dynamic.”
Tolle says in the video that one of the differentiating points of her pharmacy is that the staff get to know their patients.
“We know them on a first-name basis when they come in the pharmacy,” she says.
“They trust us so they come in and ask questions. If something’s not going right, often the pharmacist is the first line, even before the physician, because we’re so easy to get to. They can walk in and ask a question.”
Bay Street Pharmacy is the only independent pharmacy in the Sebastian River area of approximately 45,000 people on Florida’s Atlantic coast.
The video closes by encouraging viewers to visit www.ncpanet.org and find a local independent community pharmacy, using the pharmacy locator provided.
