Forum: Thanks ACCC for helping the profession (sad state of affairs in pharmacy)

“After the big fine they have pulled the targeted pain relief range of Nurofen and now they are discontinuing from 30/4/17 Optrex Itchy and the Tired spray. They will just have one line the Actimist dry eye.

Looking at the ingredients the only difference between the three was the tired spray had 5mg Pro-Vitamin B5 (Dexpanthenol) and other than that all three were the same. I don’t know if there was any evidence that the B5 made any difference but I often told customers who were persistant that surely the company had done some in house trials that it would held with tiredness more than the others but they would have a very similar if not the same effect. All of us on the front line would have been asked which one to use as more people after seeing all that advertising were confused because they fit the criteria for all 3.

When I saw the release of actimist I thought it would be the repeat of the same scenario as the nurofen and it pretty much happened…”
