Pharmacy Remuneration and Regulation Review Panel Chair Professor Stephen King is set to provide an update on the Review at the Pharmacy Connect conference in Sydney.
Conference Convenor Kos Sclavos says that Prof Stephen King will highlight key themes arising from initial consultations on the Discussion Paper, as well as how pharmacists and the industry can contribute to the Review.
“The Review Discussion Paper is expected to be released in July. A national consultation process allowing pharmacists and the community to provide feedback on the Discussion Paper will be held from July-September,” says Sclavos.
“We all understand the importance of this review and the impact it will have on community pharmacy if it is to be accepted by Government.
“Given the national consultation rollout, it is extremely timely to have this presentation at Pharmacy Connect in September,” he says.
Sclavos adds that Review Panel Member Jo Watson and a member of the Review Secretariat will be in attendance at Pharmacy Connect and able to answer questions at this session.
“We know that Professor King’s first presentation on the Review at APP (pictured) was quite controversial,” says Sclavos.
“I strongly encourage all members of the community pharmacy industry to secure their place at Pharmacy Connect and ensure any concerns with this Review are raised with the panel.
“Community pharmacy plays an integral role in the health care sector and it is vital that we, as pharmacists, are appropriately supported to continue to facilitate this role.”
Pharmacy Connect is hosted by The Pharmacy Guild of Australia, New South Wales Branch, and will be held in Sydney on 9-11 September at the newly refurbished Four Points by Sheraton Sydney, Darling Harbour.
