Paediatric constipation course

Guild Learning and Development is partnering with Care Pharmaceuticals in an online course titled Management of paediatric constipation

This course examines some of the common causes of constipation in children, as well as the behavioural and pharmacological management options.

The course also explores the role the pharmacist can play in the management of paediatric constipation, particularly with the provision of reassurance and support for parents and advice on appropriate treatment options.

Constipation is the most common digestive complaint in both adults and children, and one of the most common paediatric conditions, affecting up to 30% of children.

Constipation commonly causes abdominal pain, irritable behaviour, loss of appetite and anal fissures.

In addition, it can have a significant effect on children’s daily living activities and quality of life whilst also creating a significant burden for families, with many parents feeling overwhelmed by their children’s condition.

This activity has been accredited for 1 hour of Group 1 CPD (or 1 CPD credit), suitable for inclusion in an individual pharmacist’s CPD plan, which can be converted to 1 hour of Group 2 CPD (or 2 CPD credits) upon successful completion of relevant assessment activities.

To enrol in this course pharmacists can visit www.myCPD.org.au or contact Guild Learning and Development on 03 9810 9930 or email learninganddevelopment@guild.org.au for more information.
