Monash University has been ranked number two in the world for pharmacy and pharmacology
In the 2020 QS World University Rankings by Subject, released on Wednesday, Monash retained its position as Australia’s and the Asia-Pacific’s top university for pharmacy and pharmacology.
The QS Rankings assess the world’s best universities across five broad fields and 48 subject areas.
Using quantitative and qualitative analysis, the rankings take into account academic reputation, employer reputation, citation and staff H-indexes.
Since the subject rankings were introduced in 2011, Monash has been consistently ranked among the top pharmacy and pharmacology programs worldwide, with these Monash’s highest-ranking subjects.
The top 10 for pharmacy and pharmacology worldwide are:

- Monash University, Australia
- Harvard University, USA
- University of Toronto, Canada,
- UCL, UK
- University of Cambridge, UK
- University of Nottingham, UK
- University of California, San Francisco, USA
- University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, USA
- University of Manchester, UK
The University of Sydney came in at number 24, University of Queensland at number 31 and University of Melbourne number 49.
“The elevated ranking to number two in the world for Pharmacy and Pharmacology reflects the Faculty’s continuous drive to be at the forefront of research, practice and education on the world stage,” said Professor Arthur Christopoulos, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
