A recently commissioned report funded by Amneal Pharmaceuticals, and conducted by McCrindle Research shows that community pharmacies are friendly, professional and an integral part of healthcare services
APP Chairman Kos Sclavos says that the findings of ‘The Healthy Futures Report 2017’ will be presented at APP2017 by Mark McCrindle himself, with the full report available on the Amneal stand (91-94) after the presentation.
“Following on from the 2016 Healthy Futures Report, this research provides a deep insight into consumer expectations and preferences, to inform business and marketing strategies to support the viability of community pharmacy.
“For example, the report shows that 41% of respondents have purchased codeine based products in the last 12 months.
“This undoubtedly shows that a large proportion of the population will be greatly inconvenienced if the decision stands and patients are required to go to a doctor for a prescription for codeine containing products,” Mr Sclavos says.
A key focus of the report measured consumers understanding and opinions towards the changing role of pharmacists and community pharmacies in the healthcare system.
“More than nine out of ten respondents support the distribution of medicinal cannabis through their local pharmacy to assist with pain management.
“Additionally, the report shows that pharmacists are highly trusted in the community, with many respondents likely to recommend their local pharmacy to a friend or colleague,” Kos said.
Social researcher, Mark McCrindle will present the complete findings of the 2017 Healthy Future Report on Friday 10 March at APP2017.
APP2017 will run from 9-12 March at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, Queensland. For more information or to register, visit www.appconference.com.
